Homemade Hot Chocolate: A Cozy Treat

Nothing warms the soul on a chilly day quite like a cup of homemade hot chocolate. With just a few ingredients, you can create a rich, velvety drink that feels like a warm hug in a mug. Here’s how we made it—simple, classic, and absolutely delicious.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup milk (or your favorite milk alternative)
  • 2 tablespoons Hershey’s Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
  • 2 tablespoons sugar (or adjust to your taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional, but we loved it!)
  • A pinch of salt (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Mix the Dry Ingredients: In a small bowl, combine the cocoa powder, sugar, and a pinch of salt.
  2. Heat the Milk: Gently heat the milk in a saucepan over medium heat. If you’re feeling bold like I was, add the vanilla extract right away to infuse the milk with its flavor.
  3. Combine: Slowly whisk the dry mixture into the warm milk, ensuring no lumps.
  4. Simmer: Heat until it’s hot and smooth, but don’t let it boil.
  5. Serve: Pour into your favorite mug, top with whipped cream or marshmallows, and enjoy!

The Verdict:

We made this on a whim, and it turned out to be a huge hit. The velvety cocoa with the hint of vanilla made it feel extra special. Whether you’re snuggling up with a book, sharing it with someone you love, or just treating yourself, this hot chocolate is a recipe to keep in your back pocket.
