I have noticed for a long time that web fonts in Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome look horrible. Windows Internet Explorer looks OK though. So, what is going on?
It turns out that Microsoft smooths over web fonts in Internet Explorer, but neither Firefox nor Chrome do so.
In order to get those browsers to render the fonts they way they should, you have to turn on a feature called Clear Type.
In fact, Firefox Support actually recommends it!
To turn on Clear Type, click on the Windows Start and search for “cleartype” and then click on “Adjust ClearType text”
Follow the steps, choosing the text that looks best for you at each step. When finished, all the fonts in Firefox and Chrome will looks as clear as Internet Explorer.
